Overview

A crucial aspect of the success of the European Green Deal lies in effectively executing the Clean Energy Transition (CET), a process entailing a comprehensive transformation of the energy system to realise a fair, environmentally sustainable, competitive, and climate-neutral society by 2050.

The EERA community firmly believes that energy research and innovation (R&I) is essential for simultaneously advancing all aforementioned CET aspects. However, R&I is often overlooked as a key factor in boosting competitiveness.

In a context of intense international competition, rising protectionism, and geopolitical tensions, this year’s EERA flagship conference will shine a light on energy R&I as a fundamental driver of competitiveness in  Europe’s journey to radically transform its energy system and a pillar of the Union’s strategic autonomy. The conference will also draw on insights from a complementary technology and policy-oriented report, offering actionable recommendations from Europe’s most extensive energy research network.

More than just a platform to unveil this timely report and its findings, the conference will feature renowned keynote speakers and facilitate insightful discussions among academics, policymakers, industry representatives, and professionals on the vital role of energy R&I in achieving Europe’s strategic objectives.

Format - This is an in-person event. However, in view of minimising the carbon footprint of events-related travelling, it will also be possible to follow it online for those joining from outside Brussels.

Networking lunch - Following the conference, EERA is pleased to invite the attendees to a walking lunch where they will have the opportunity to exchange their perspectives and discuss with the panellists on the topics addressed.
