abstract | "Focusing on electromobility applications, especially electric cars, buses and trucks, the EU-funded IntelLiGent project will develop and demonstrate European generation 3b high voltage lithium-ion batteries with increased energy density, faster charging and longer cycle life. IntelLiGent will combine Co-free high voltage cathodes with high-capacity silicon-graphite anodes to increase energy- and power- densities. As an evolution of existing chemistries, the manufacturing processes are compatible with those currently used commercially, and so the project goal is to provide a direct boost to the European battery value chain by enabling world-leading battery technologies using already optimised manufacturing methods. Further, the project will focus on materials production and processing routes which substantially reduce the manufacturing cost and environmental footprint." |
