Overview
Norway possesses abundant renewable energy resources, which can be harnessed to generate electricity and hydrogen for transportation purposes. The country is currently implementing ambitious national and regional climate policies focused on promoting low and zero-emission transportation, including financial incentives to encourage the adoption of electric vehicles powered by batteries and hydrogen fuel cells. Additionally, Norway is committed to fostering both new and existing businesses to generate “green jobs” as part of its broader national policy. Therefore, it is essential to align these climate policies with long-term, industry-led business development strategies.
Battery and hydrogen technologies have already been demonstrated in various regions for zero-emission transport systems, but further advancements are necessary before these solutions can be applied to other transport sectors, such as heavy-duty road, rail, or maritime transport. MoZEES will concentrate on battery and hydrogen value chains, systems, and applications where Norway has the potential to lead in the future.
